Located in Chicago's West Loop Gate Neighborhood at Washington and Racine, Block X is a one hundred unit, gated community offering home buyers a truly "unique alternative in urban living". Thrush acquired the 1.78-acre site in August 1996 and construction began in September 1997 with financing provided by Cole Taylor Bank. The development included construction of five residential buildings clustered around a 1/3-acre courtyard. Block X consists of three building types: The Residences - two, four story elevator buildings, The Terraces - two, four story walk-ups and The Townhomes/Penthouses - twelve, three-story townhomes with four single story penthouses above the townhomes.

Parking is contained in an underground, heated garage or in each townhome. The development has sold out and all of the homes are occupied.

Pappageorge & Haymes LTD was the architect for Block X. The development generated $25.5 million in revenue. Block X received the Builders Choice Grand Award from Builder Magazine, the Distinguished Builder Honor Award for Excellence in Architecture from the American Institute of Architects and two Gold Key Awards from the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago.
