Tribune Festival Of Homes: The Thrush Cos. is celebrating the grand opening of Phase II at their incredibly successful Shakespeare development following record sales in Phase I. Located at 4550 South Woodlawn in the Kenwood neighborhood, just north of Hyde Park, Shakespeare is Festival Of Homes # _____. After selling the majority of the 54 townhomes in Phase I at Shakespeare Thrush has made an additional 40 homes available in Phase II. Base prices range from $167,000 to $334,000 for townhomes with 1,488 to 2,704 square feet of space, two or three bedrooms and 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 baths. Six floor plans are available to accommodate the lifestyles of a variety of buyers. Each includes a family room or study and balconies off of the second and third floors, along with an attached one- or two-car garage. Outside, the handsome townhomes offer traditional exteriors to blend with the neighborhood's established character. The three-story buildings feature masonry and limestone and each home comes with a private fenced yard. Additionally, a large portion of the Shakespeare site is landscaped and open with interior mini-parks -- a Thrush trademark. Shakespeare takes its name from the former Shakespeare Elementary School, located right across the street. The school will become home to the Ariel Community Academy. This will be a prototype of the Small School Incentives developed by the Chicago Public Schools. The North Kenwood-Oakdale School, a private charter school sponsored by the University Of Chicago also will be housed in this building. Thrush calls Shakespeare "The Education Community" because of the many top schools nearby. The new Lake Park Pointe shopping center is just one block from the community. The shopping center is anchored by the Hyde Park Food Co-Cop and includes Walgreen's, a Citibank branch and several smaller stores. Additionally, the Kenwood neighborhood is close to the Loop, lakefront, expressways and museums. Shakespeare Townhomes is located at East 46th Street and South Woodlawn Ave. The sales center is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Phone (773) 624-0100 for more information.
